I was asked in a private message "My question is about eclectic pagan's like you that take a smattering of many faiths. What kind of afterlife do you expect if any?" and here is my answer. There are 4 parts to this, 1) I believe in reincarnation and have done some past life regressions. Though I am somewhat pragmatic about it. Little things like, we misremembering things in this life become even more skewed across lives, then there is who knows what mental state from another life, looking at another life through the lens of this life, and so on. For things like past life regression, the important part is what does it mean for now. Be it a literal past life or a mental creation of this life, it still has real meaning psychologically. 2) is the time of rest between lives, or perhaps our final rest. Many individual traditions have a variety of afterlives for different people, and being eclectic I just take it a step further that all those varieties are available. 3) I have on many occasions thought about the idea of minds/souls being like radio frequencies (but don't read too much into that) and that our spirits will be around others with similar frequencies. So if you are a really negative person, that is what you will find yourself surrounded by, but if you are a caring and compassionate person, that is what you will be surrounded with. 4) part is simply it is a mystery. We can theorize all our lives, but we can't KNOW for certain until we get there. I have always been attached to this quote philosophically
“Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.” ― Marcus Aurelius
